Once Upon A Time...

We arrived on Terceira December of 1960 where my dad had already accepted his civilian(D.O.D.)orders ahead of my mom, brother & me. Dad had procured a rent house in Praia while we were awaiting a move aboard Lajes Air Base. My brother & I were 2nd & 1st graders as we left Texas that Christmas & then spent 4 amazing years on the island...

Fast forward 55+ years spent traveling extensively & then stumbling upon an opportunity to revisit one of the most beautiful places of all my globe-trotting memories! We fly into Lajes International in late April for a 7-night stay in Angra & I am so excited to be able to show my grown son where I spent my elementary years.

I've truly enjoyed researching the many changes shared by fellow travelers here as well as discovering many antiquated elements which remain intact.

I'm currently challenged with requesting visitors' passes allowing us to see the base where we lived, went to school, chapel, etc. If anyone has any suggestions on how to go about this, please feel free to e-mail me or respond in this blog.
