Help! Sooo confused.

Just saw a travel package to Azores and have some questions about the islands. The only language we speak is English, is that a problem on the islands? Also the package is for 6 nights at S Miguel Park Hotel. Do you know anything about the hotel or the area it's in? We'd like to see the whales, dolphins, beaches and see the sites. Is June a good time of year for that? What's the weather like that time of year? Thanks for any help and information.

Go for it! ;-)

I only speak English and do just fine in the Azores. Most places (restaurants, hotels, stores, tourist attractions, etc) in Sao Miguel will have people there that speak fluent English. Of course, they appreciate an effort to say a few basic Portuguese words like thank you (Obrigado).

Sao Miguel Park Hotel gets good reviews. The hotel is known to be clean but a bit dated. The main thing I dislike with that hotel is that it is about a ten minute walk from the best part of Ponta Delgada: the old commercial core and the waterfront. But that shouldn't scare you.

June is a great time to go. It should be mostly sunny and warm. It's likely that not everyday will be great beach weather, but you should get enough great days at the beach. It's also a good time for whale watching, hiking, and exploring.

POnta Delgada is a nice city, but also plan to either rent a car or hire a taxi for a couple of days so you can get out into the countryside and see the sites.

Hope that helps?

Thanks for your comments. I decided what the heck, we'll be going in June sometime. Excited, nervous, can't wait. Now I have to go tell my husband, he said pick a place so I did. Plus got such a great deal from Living Social I couldn't pass it up. Now I have to get our passports. Thanks for your help.
