Gardens in bloom ?

My daughter and I are planning first visit when is best time to see flowers, fruits, nuts in bloom late April or early sept?

Great question! In April you will experience the peak for azaleas and rhododendrons. And cala lillies will be making an appearance too. If you visit Sao Miguel during this time frame, I recommend visiting Terra Nostra Park in Furnas to check out the flowers in bloom. There's a few older pictures here Terra Nostra Park

If you visit in September, you will be arriving after the famous hydrangeas have peaked. However, ginger lilies reach peak bloom, filling valleys with fragrance.

Through the year you will encounter wildflowers and a variety of lillies and other flowering plants.

As for fruits, apples, pears and figs will be in bloom in April.
