Destination Wedding - Azores

Hello!

I was hoping to have a destination wedding in Santa Maria, but it seems that they are limited with wedding planners. Can you give me any suggestions as to where to have a reception and where I would be able to get contacts from the island that speak English?

Any information you have would be lovely, we really don't have any information about who or where we can contact wedding professionals there.

Congratulations! Getting married in the Azores is an exciting idea. And Santa Maria is beautiful.

It will be a challenge to organize this. I say that because the Santa Maria economy is very small. The population is under 6000 and there are only 2 or 3 small hotels.

One place you could start is with the local tourism office. Their email is pt.smaatazores.gov.pt replace at with @. You should reach an english speaking tourism official that lives on the island.

Do you have any idea how may people will be going to this? And have you thought about another island at all? The reason I ask is that Sao Miguel, Terceira and Pico would have way more options.

I will look through some of my resources and let you know if I can offer any suggestions.

I would like to marry there because my parents had been married in senhora de Fatima there 35 years ago. I would like a small intimate reception possibly 50-70 people.

I've tried to find photos of the hotels but there aren't many. I'd like to find out if I can have the reception there just for convenience for my elderly guests.
