breakfast the first day

We are arriving in PDG at 7am and won't get into our hotel in Furnas until later that day. The couple we are travelling with have never been to the Azores so we want their first impression to be a great one. My question is can we get a good breakfast at one of the nice hotels with a water view, like Bahia Palace? We will be driving from PDG so I thought something on the way with a great view would be a wonderful first experience for their first hours on the island. The first time we went to Sao Miguel we couldn't find anyplace serving a regular breakfast on our way to Ribeira Grande. Thanks for your help

Hi Gerri
Thanks for asking! I don't eat out for breakfast too often in Sao Miguel. When I do, I enjoy going to Populo restaurant located on Populo beach in Livrament (between Ponta Delgada and Lagoa). Give that a try. It's a nice location with a comfortable restaurant.

Maybe some of our followers will also have a suggestion?

Best Regards

a couple of suggestions
by: Lyn

Sorry. We rented a house in Mosteiros so our breakfast consisted of coffee, bread, and cheese we brought with us. Later, after we unpacked, we walked up to the local grocery store and stocked up on most of the food we needed for a week.

One suggestion though. Even if you are staying in a hotel, I assume you will want snacks and drinks. While you are in PDL with a rental car, stop at the Parc Atlantico and get your grocery/booze supplies before you go to one of the smaller villages. And, try the Sao Miguel cheese- It is great!

And lastly-now I am filling in this comment blank- I forgot where you said you are going but consider putting Ceramica Vieira in Lagoa on your list of places to go. Unfortunately, they do not ship but there are many small pieces which make really nice souvenirs.

Breakfast
by: Bonita Sousa

Good morning Rob,
We have seen the menu at populo restaurant. We have found that they serve the closest American breakfast possible. The hotels still serve a continental style.
