Looking for an artist who does whalebone boats

While we were in the azores we met and purchased a whale boat made of ivory. We purchased it from Mr. Alberto Luz. Mr. Luz came to the united states in 1990 and we took him on a tour of mystic conn. and the whaling museum in New Bedford Ma. Mr. Luz brought some boats with him and we were able to sell them for him. We would like to contact Mr.Luz or his family if possible.
He has been written up in many books about whaleboats and is very famous. Please inform me if you can find any information on him.
