Walking in Sao Miguel Azores: A Magical and Romantic Experience

A walk in Sao Miguel can be a magical and a romantic experience for those that allow themselves to be captivated by this spellbound natural wonderland. Walk through the city of Ponta Delgada and lose yourself amongst a culture of old and new. Allow your senses to fall under the spell of delightful aromas that escape the cafes and restaurants as you stroll along the cobblestone streets. And to be sure, let your heart open up to the friendly yet timid smiles of the locals as they go about their daily routines.

As you travel into the countryside, nature and human existence is evident throughout the cultivated fields and the ruins of long ago. Walking through the ´canadas`, the access roads to the fields that are lined with lava stones on both sides, one cannot, but feel the centuries of hardships that took to tame this island of stone. Finally, and my air of existence; the unspoiled floral that is so abundant throughout the island. Nature trails of new and old, that were once connections between villages for trading of goods. These magnificent paths cut through the heart of nature and exposes the inner beauty of the Azorean existence. Breathtaking sights of the Atlantic through the eucalyptus and the hills of greenery or the astounding sight of one of nature’s flowers waits for those that know where to find heaven on earth.
